1 Corinthians 15:58 - The Message “With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.”
We did it! We are past the election and have announced a President Elect and Vice President Elect! What history has been made! We have the first woman and person of color as Vice President Elect! Now it is time to get to work! As the late Frankie Muse Freeman would say, “there is still much work to be done.” The work will not be easy! The work has never been easy especially for those who have been oppressed. Let us not become comfortable and leave the work for others to do! We have to keep our eyes on the prize and be more focused than ever! The rhetoric will continue and be louder than ever. Remember half of the people in this country voted for someone who leads by hate and division. Each one of us have a part to play in unifying and loving one another. There will be wins which we will celebrate, but we will also have defeats which we will learn from. We must march forward in supporting each and our President Elect and Vice President Elect!
We need to stay encouraged! To encourage as defined by Dictionary.com, a verb, is to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence. I’m encouraged, excited, optimistic and realistic our nation will be better because of our newly elected leadership. One on my favorite songs is Encourage Yourself by Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers. Here is the link. Stay encouraged my brothers and sisters! We all have to bring our gifts, talents and treasures to the table. We are going to have to love our neighbors and enemies as ourselves. This is a time to come together and unify. Love will conquer all! God is in control!
As you know this is #StuffValSaid, but what about you? What do you say? How are you encouraged? What are you going to do to encourage others? Here are a few things I would like to suggest:
Dream – be aspirational and what can be
Lead – be the change you want to see
Serve – be of service to others
Respect – be a positive influence and accept the difference for someone
Move – be the one who creates and innovates for others
What legacy are you creating? History was made this past weekend. You too can make a difference! Be open to the possibilities! Philippians: 4:13 KJV “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” The Message Bible puts it this way, “Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” Be focused and intentional in all you do! Let’s do the darn thing! I love you!
