How are you my brothers and sisters? My weekend was filled with abundant blessings! As I sit and reflect on my weekend, I find my soul and spirit on fire, peaceful, spirited, and also at peace like I have never experienced! It feels so good! I sit here marveling in the wonders of God. The sun rises and it sets! The river flows! The rain falls! The birds sing! The squirrels run through the trees! There are many days like today. I’m in such a good place! I have been humming “Amazing Grace.” I’m just full! Ya’ll know! As the lyrics are…” Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.” As we move further into the song, “The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.” It is all about grace and salvation! I refuse to let anything or anybody to steal my peace and joy! What has happened to being empathic, kind, and compassionate? Why is it people feel so comfortable in saying and doing unkind things to another human? How many times has someone been reckless (the word the young people use) with their words and actions? The person feels they can say anything to you, and you are to accept it! It seems to me more and more people are rude and condescending! Where is the grace? In many ways, especially for people of color, there has been a resurgence of individuals using their so-called power to dismiss, devalue, and deny! Where is the grace? That ain’t right! PERIOD! It always strikes me that when a person realizes you might know somebody (not know something) their actions and words change. By that time, it’s too late. The damage has been done! In many cases the damage is not repairable! Why is it that way? Where is the love? Where is the grace? Remember the golden rule do unto others as you would have them do unto you! The disrespect, hate, jealousy, insecurity, and anger must cease! We need this grace! God allows us to be here to use our gifts and talents to help our fellow humans not hurt them. Remember as said my maternal grandfather, James Conyers, who had a gift of words and saying, “Words make scars that silent tongues will never heal.” I miss him and my daddy so much as they never met a stranger. They were always willing to help but above all they were God fearing men who knew how to extend grace and be kind and use their words wisely! Abide in love, grace, honor, and cherish what those who have gone before us have taught us to be! Each and every day…be your best self! You are created in God’s unique image!
Psalm 66:16-20, The Message “All believers, come here and listen, let me tell you what God did for me. I called out to him with my mouth, my tongue shaped the sounds of music. If I had been cozy with evil, the Lord would never have listened. But he most surely did listen, he came on the double when he heard my prayer. Blessed be God: he didn’t turn a deaf ear, he stayed with me, loyal in his love.”
As you know this is #StuffValSaid, but what do you say? How does grace show up in your daily life and works? How does kindness appear in all you say and do? How are being self-aware in all you say and do?
I leave you with this! “Grace isn’t a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal. It’s a way to live. The law tells me how crooked I am. Grace comes along and straightens me out.” – Dwight Lyman Moody
As said in Swahili, Ashay…” Be with us!!!” I love and honor you!!! Ubuntu “I am, because you
