Proverbs 16:7 - The Message When God approves of your life,even your enemies will end up shaking your hand.
Are you at peace? Is it well with your soul? These lyrics touch my soul deeply! I share the first stanza with you:
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
From Wikipedia, "It Is Well With My Soul" is a hymn penned by hymnist Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. This hymn was written after traumatic events in Spafford's life. "It is well with my soul" doesn't mean that it's all good. It means; we can do hard things. Our help comes from God who will see us through!
Proverbs is one my favorite books in the Bible! There is so much wisdom shared in Proverbs. How many times have you heard or been told you need to love your enemies? A lot I’m sure! I have on many occasions asked why? To live your life as God wants, you must and should love your enemies if you choose to live a life of peace filled with hope. We must strive to have a “whatever my lot” spirit – even in the times we are living in. It seems like there is no peace…but whatever my lot. People are “beefing” with one another, so many appear to always be in a hurry, driving recklessly, constant discord, people against people, nations against nations, race issues, health issues…a global pandemic, and the list goes on and seems endless…but whatever my lot! What must we do to achieve peace? We must trust God and follow his ways. We need not worry about anything, including our enemies, because when are following God our enemies are his enemies. This does not mean it won’t be any “stuff!” It will be! We see it every day! We do not treat people as we want to be treated! If someone does something to us, many times we want to get back at them but why? Retaliation achieves nothing but heart ache and sorrow! It will hurt you more than person you are trying to get back at! It must stop! Stop the hate! Stop the lack of care for others especially those who are not where you are or have what you have! Turn that negativity into a “whatever my lot” and trust God!
As you know this is #StuffValSaid, but what are you going to do? What is your “lot”? Where do you find your peace? How will share your peace? How will help to create peace? Here are a few things I would like to suggest:
• Peace – to be in a state of harmony
• Hope – to desire for a common good
• Prepare – to be ready
John 14:27 - New International Version Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. I love you!
