Change is NOT an Accident

2 Corinthians 5:17 – The Message Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!

As I sit here peering out the window taking in God’s creation and the warmth of the sunshine, I find my mind racing! Why is my mind racing so? It must have something to do with what is going on not only with me (it’s all good) but what is going on around me? We are in the midst of remembering the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We are preparing to transition power in our country by swearing in the 46th President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden and the 49th Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris. We in the midst of healing from the insurrection which took place on January 6, 2021. We in the midst of a health and race pandemic! We have a vaccine! We have changed decades! We are at the beginning of a new year! We are ever changing…people, politics, places, situations and the list goes on! How is your life changing?

Change, a verb, as defined by Dictionary.com is “to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone.” Change is a good, healthy thing and a constant! If you are breathing, change is occurring with you, in you and around you! Change is difficult and many times cause great pause! Change requires making choices. Change requires action! Change is intentional! Deuteronomy 31:6 (The Message) tells us "Be strong. Take courage. Don't be intimidated. Don't give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; he won't leave you." We often fear change as it is comfortable to do what we have always done. We must break this cycle as it leads to chaos and insanity!

As you know this is #StuffValSaid, but what do you say? Are you going to do things differently? Are you going to be more of what God wants you to be? Because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. Are you going to create the change you want to see? Because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. Here are a few things to consider:

• Choice – to choose wisely

• Courage – to have convictions

• Intention – to have purpose

• Justice – to have a moral compass

My brothers and sisters I leave with these words for the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.” “Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability but comes through continuous struggle. And so, we must straighten our backs and work for freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.” Be the change! The time is NOW! Love you!
