Can You Be Quiet???

Psalm 46:8-10 The Message Attention, all! See the marvels of God! He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, bans war from pole to pole, breaks all the weapons across his knee. “Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.”

In the still of the night! I love the early morning and late night! I fell in love with the late night when I worked in telecommunications. I worked what one calls overnight! Do you know how much goes on in the still of the night? More than you can imagine! The still of the night allows you to center yourself without interruption. There is too much noise and chaos! There is too much movement! How can you hear and receive from God in noise, chaos, and constant motion. You cannot! Do you want joy? Be still and listen to God! “The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” Ram Dass

Quiet, a verb, as defined by Oxford is “make or become silent, calm, or still.” How many times did your elders tell you go sit down somewhere and be still! We did as they said! We usually emerged from the quiet with greater insights! Ecclesiastes 3:7 NIV says There is “a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak.” Being quiet can be a struggle! The Bible gives us the instruction to keep the peace and listen, however, discourages being quiet when the source of that quiet is fear. Through God's words we can be empowered to speak out for it can lead to great things and abundant joy. Amen!

My prayer for you is to find “your” quiet place or space! God can calm any storm you may be experiencing! God is always with you! He will never leave or forsake you! Trust and believe! When you stop and focus on the beauty of God, you will receive the peace He has promised you. When you cry out to Him in prayer you will feel His comfort. Talk to Him, trust in Him, be still, and you will hear His calming voice and rest upon His strength.

As you know this is #StuffValSaid, but what do you say? Are you seeking quiet? Can you hear God speaking to you? Are you going to create the change you want to see? Here are a few things to consider:

• Calm – to be tranquil

• Silence – to listen

• Soothe – to comfort

• Joy – to be happy

My brothers and sisters I pray each of you find your quiet! The world around us is noisy! To do the work God has for us to do, we must get to a place of calm, peace, and joy! Joy, joy, unspeakable joy deep down in your soul! Quiet brings clarity! Love you!
