Ecclesiastes 9:11 The Message “I took another walk around the neighborhood and realized that on this earth as it is—The race is not always to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor satisfaction to the wise, Nor riches to the smart, Nor grace to the learned. Sooner or later bad luck hits us all.”
How are you doing? As so much is going on, I’ve decided to start every blog asking how are you doing? I mean, how are you really doing! It is okay to not be okay! It is okay to feel some kind of way! I just ask you don’t stay there. I’ve realized time is marching on and the pace is swift! As children, we never thought anything was coming…the holidays, vacation, and more! Children have great anticipation, excitement, and joy about what is coming! It is absolutely delightful to watch! And then, we become adults and it seems as if we never have enough time to do anything! For those we work, we are generally in great anticipation for the weekend! The weekend…two days for us to just be but filled with much to do and not enough time to do what needs to be done! We seem to always be moving so fast we forget to stop, breath and just enjoy the beauty around us! Let’s slow our roll! We are moving so fast we are missing out on what is really important! As best sung by The Stylistics “Stop, Look, and Listen to your heart, hear what it’s saying.” We need to pace ourselves and slow it down! We need to smell the roses, love, laugh, and live!
We are running a race! Why? Life is to be lived! We often times think of running a physical race! As a runner, you learn to pace yourself based of the race you are running…a 100, 400 or a longer distance. Pacing is important! You learn to pace so you don’t burn out! The same applies for the spiritual race! Pacing is not easy but can be done! Remember this, you are not in control, you need not be afraid, and you have the strength to make it through! Proverbs 3:5-12 The Message “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.”
As you know this is #StuffValSaid, but what do you say? Who sets the pace? Are tired of running at your own pace? What makes it hard to let God set the pace for your life?
• Pace – to grow and progress
• Strength – to be not afraid
• Release – to let it go
So, as we slow down and live our best life! God is running beside you! Lace up your Converse, Toms or whatever your sneakers you wear, let God be your pacemaker of your heart and life, and run and amazing race with God as your guide. Let God set your spiritual pace! Ready, set, GO!!! I love you!
